Two-Vehicle Crash on Commerce Street Slows Down Traffic for Nearly an Hour this Morning

HAWKINSVILLE — A two-vehicle collision on Commerce Street caused some commotion in downtown for approximately an hour this morning after a van ran a red light and struck an SUV in front of Heritage Restaurant.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. when a Ford Econoline van failed to stop at a red light and collided with a grey Ford Escape. The impact was significant enough to prompt authorities to shut down the East bound stretch of Commerce Street while the scene was cleared.

No major injuries were reported, according to authorities.

The incident caused considerable disruption to morning traffic in the area. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes as crews worked to reopen the roadway.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Additional details, including whether any citations were issued, have not yet been released.
